Seedance vs Kling vs Veo for Photo-to-Video

Updated 2026-10-13

On this page

Seedance, Kling and Veo can all turn one photo into a short video with sound. They differ in clip length, in how many reference files they take, and in where you can use them. We found no independent test that ranks them for photo-to-video effects, so this page does not name a winner.

This is a fact comparison. Every number comes from a named source. Where we could not confirm a number, we write "not confirmed".

Key facts

  • Seedance (ByteDance): Seedance 2.0 makes up to 15 seconds per clip. Seedance 2.5 makes up to 30 seconds in one generation. Both make audio with the video.
  • Kling (Kuaishou): Kling 3.0 makes videos of up to 15 seconds with native audio. At launch, early access was for Ultra subscribers.
  • Veo (Google): Veo 3.1 makes video with native audio and takes reference images, or a first and a last frame. Google added native vertical 9:16 video in January 2026.
  • Photo-to-video: all three can start from an image.
  • Not confirmed: a fair quality ranking, and prices that hold across platforms.
  • Last checked: October 13, 2026.

Seedance for photo-to-video

ByteDance announced Seedance 2.0 on February 12, 2026. It makes up to 15 seconds of multi-shot video with two-channel stereo audio and accepts up to 9 images, 3 video clips and 3 audio clips as references [1]. TechNode reports that Seedance 2.5 reached the public on July 31, 2026, with 30-second clips and up to 30 images, 10 videos and 10 audio clips [2].

Good fit when: you want to feed in several reference images, you want sound made with the video, or you need a longer clip. ByteDance also lists complex motion and multi-subject scenes as strengths [1].

Watch out for: ByteDance's own list of weak spots for 2.0 includes detail stability, text on screen and consistency across several subjects [1]. A dance video from one photo has one subject, which avoids the last weak spot.

For more detail see What is Seedance and Seedance 2.5 vs Seedance 2.0.

Kling for photo-to-video

Kuaishou announced the Kling 3.0 series in early February 2026. A report on its statement lists Video 3.0 and Video 3.0 Omni. It notes video of up to 15 seconds and native audio in several languages, dialects and accents. Early access went to Ultra subscribers first, and the report says wider access would follow [3]. ForkLog adds that Kling 3.0 accepts multiple reference images and source videos as scene elements, and has a multi-shot feature [7].

On the API platform we checked, the Kling 3.0 request takes a length of 3 to 15 seconds. It has three quality modes: standard (1280 by 720), pro (1920 by 1080) and 4K. Aspect ratios are 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1. In single-shot mode it takes one or two images. Two images mean a first frame and a last frame. A multi-shot mode takes a first frame only [4].

Good fit when: you want a clear image-to-video flow with a first and last frame, and you want 1:1 or 9:16 output.

Watch out for: the image count is low compared with Seedance. Details such as shot limits can differ between Kling's own app and API platforms.

Veo for photo-to-video

Google's Veo 3.1 page lists native audio ("sound effects, ambient noise, and even dialogue") and outputs in 1080p and 4K. It also lists reference images of "a scene, a character, or an object", a style reference, and a first and last frame [5]. The page also says that Veo videos in its evaluation are 8 seconds long and that you can extend clips [5].

eWeek reported on January 15, 2026 that Google updated Veo 3.1 with native 9:16 vertical video. It reports a path into YouTube Shorts, the YouTube Create app and the Gemini app. It says 4K is limited to professional platforms such as Flow and the Gemini API [6].

Good fit when: you already work in Google's tools, or you want vertical video from the Gemini app or YouTube Shorts.

Watch out for: clip length. The base clip is shorter than the 15 and 30 seconds that Seedance lists, and longer videos need extension.

Which one should you use for photo effects?

Pick by the job.

Your jobWhat the facts say
One photo to a short vertical clipAll three start from an image and offer 9:16. Compare the price and the app you already use.
Many reference images or reference clipsSeedance lists the highest counts: 9 images in 2.0 and 30 in 2.5.
Longest single clipSeedance 2.5 lists 30 seconds. Kling 3.0 lists 15. Veo's page shows 8 seconds plus extension.
Sound with the videoAll three make audio with the video.
Fast result with no promptNone of the three. Use a template.
Closest first and last frame controlKling and Seedance both take a first and a last frame on the API platforms we checked [4] [8]. Veo lists it as well [5].

If you need a dance or a trend video from your own photo, the model is only half of the work. You also need the motion, the framing and the settings. A template packs these for you.

What we do not know

  • Quality ranking. We found no independent test of dance or photo-to-video quality across the three. Company charts are internal tests.
  • Price. Each platform sets its own price. A price list from one platform does not hold for another.
  • Region and access. Access changes by country, app and plan.
  • Newer versions. All three companies update their models often. Check the official page before you decide.

Where Effect Farm fits

Effect Farm is an independent site at effectfarm.com. We are not part of ByteDance, Kuaishou or Google. We make videos from one photo with ready-made templates, and our templates run on Seedance. We do not name the version here. We have not published a test that compares Seedance, Kling and Veo, so we make no claim that one is better.

What we can say is what you get: one photo in, a video out, in 3–6 minutes, with no prompt. Upload first, then sign in at Make. One video costs 30 credits ($4.99 in the smallest pack). A failed video gives its credit back automatically. See pricing and the AI models page.
